Young athletes need to get noticed by top teams and recruiters. The summer is often a time to slow down and enjoy yourself however, the best of the best continue to train and build their skills outside of daily training. As a speed and skill training facility, our goal is to help young athletes truly stand out. Here are some of the top events that happen over the summer in Texas (and across the country) and more information on how to get involved.
Track & Field
Texas Relays
The Texas Relays is a prestigious track and field event held annually in Austin, Texas. It attracts top athletes from high schools, colleges, and universities across the country. The event usually takes place in late March or early April.
UIL State Track and Field Championships
Organized by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), the State Track and Field Championships is the culminating event for high school athletes in Texas. The championships feature various classifications and take place in late May at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
AAU Junior Olympic Games
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympic Games is a multi-sport event that includes track and field competitions. The games attract young athletes from across the nation, including Texas. The dates and location for the AAU Junior Olympic Games may vary each year.

TTFCA Meet of Champions
The Texas Track and Field Coaches Association (TTFCA) Meet of Champions is an invitation-only event that brings together top-performing high school track and field athletes from across Texas. The meet is usually held in June and showcases outstanding talent.
AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Junior Olympics
Held every year in late July or early August and spanning multiple days this event attracts talented youth athletes from across the country who have qualified at local and regional meets. Participants compete in different age divisions and events within their respective sports, including track and field disciplines like sprints, distance running, jumps, throws, and relays.

USTAF National Junior Olympic Championships
The USATF (USA Track & Field) National Junior Olympic Championships is an annual event that showcases the talents of youth athletes in track and field, including cross country. The championships serve as the culmination of a series of regional qualifying meets held throughout the country. The next event will be held in Eugene Oregon.
The next event is happening in July 2023 to qualify for AAU. We wish all our participating athletes the best.
Nike Outdoor Nationals
Nike Outdoor Track and Field Championships is a prestigious annual track and field event that showcases the talents of high school athletes from across the United States. Organized by Nike, this national-level competition features a wide range of track and field events, including sprints, distance races, hurdles, jumps, throws, and relays. Nike Outdoor Nationals attracts top athletes and serves as a platform for them to compete against their peers and demonstrate their skills on a national stage. The event provides an opportunity for athletes to set personal records, earn recognition, and potentially catch the attention of college recruiters and coaches. The location of Nike Outdoor Nationals may vary each year.
Cross Country
Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) Summer Games
TAAF organizes an annual Summer Games event that includes cross-country races for various age groups, including youth divisions. This multi-sport event takes place in various locations across Texas and typically occurs in July.
AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Junior Olympic Games
The AAU Junior Olympic Games is a national-level competition that features track and field events, including cross country. Qualifying meets are held at the local and regional levels, leading up to the national championships. The location of the national championship changes each year, but Texas has hosted it in the past.
USATF (USA Track & Field) Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships
USATF hosts regional and national championships for junior athletes, including cross country. Texas is part of the Southwestern Association region, which holds regional qualifying meets. Successful athletes then progress to the national championships, which are held in different locations across the United States each year.
Nike Cross Nationals South Regional
Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) is a prestigious high school cross-country series with regional qualifiers leading to the national championship event. The South Regional typically includes several states, including Texas. The location of the regional meet may vary each year.
Texas Youth Race Series
The Texas Youth Race Series is a collection of cross-country races specifically designed for young runners. These races are typically held in various cities across Texas during the summer months, providing opportunities for youth athletes to compete against their peers.
Cross Country training starts in the heat of the summer. To all those training do not forget to drink lots of water.
Soccer
Dallas Cup
The Dallas Cup features different age groups, including high school-age divisions. It provides an opportunity for high school teams to compete against other top teams from around the world.
Texas Shootout
The Texas Shootout includes divisions for various age groups, including high school-age players. It offers a platform for high school soccer teams to participate in competitive matches and showcase their skills.
Texas State Cup
The Texas State Cup organized by the North Texas State Soccer Association (NTSSA) includes divisions for different age groups, including high school-age players. It serves as a competitive tournament for high school soccer teams in Texas.
Lone Star Invitational
The Lone Star Invitational, held in Houston, Texas, typically includes divisions for different age groups, including high school-age players. It provides an opportunity for high school teams to compete against teams from the local area and beyond.
Dallas Cup
The Dallas Cup is an internationally renowned youth soccer tournament held annually in Dallas, Texas. Since its inception in 1980, the Dallas Cup has grown to become one of the most prestigious and competitive youth soccer events in the United States. Teams from around the world, including top clubs and academies, gather to compete in various age groups and divisions. The tournament attracts a high level of talent and serves as a platform for young soccer players to showcase their skills and compete against top-notch competition.
The next event will be March 23 – 31, 2024.
Soccer team try outs start in June – July each year. Most athletes will try out for several teams. We wish our athletes the best and can’t wait to see the teams you each make.
Football
Texas State 7-on-7 Championships
7-on-7 football is a non-contact version of the sport that emphasizes passing and receiving skills. The Texas State 7-on-7 Championships is a highly popular tournament that takes place annually, featuring teams from high schools across the state. It provides young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their skills in a competitive and exciting environment.
Texas High School Football State Championships
The Texas High School Football State Championships is a series of championship games held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The championships feature teams from different classifications and determine the state champions in each division. While this event is primarily focused on high school football, it serves as an important platform for young athletes to witness and aspire to reach the pinnacle of the sport.
Nike Football Opening Regional Camp
The Nike Football Opening Regional Camp is a prestigious football camp held in Texas, attracting top high school football players from around the region. The camp features elite-level training, skill development, and showcases, providing young athletes with exposure to college scouts and the opportunity to compete against some of the best talents in the area.
Football University (FBU) Top Gun Showcase
The FBU Top Gun Showcase is an invite-only event that brings together top youth football players from across the country. The showcase features intense training, position-specific drills, and competitive games. It serves as a platform for young athletes to display their skills and compete against other top talents at their age level.
